Weekend Review

Friday, my Stitch Fix came.  I love getting my box and trying on all of the cute clothes.  This time I kept 3 pieces, a gold and black long necklace, the jeans and gray sweater-jacket.  This is so convenient for me and they actually listen to my feedback each month.

During lunch Friday Rick and I went down to the swamp to check the hog traps.  He wanted to cook a hog for the football game.  Sadly, the traps were empty so we had to have bbq chicken.

Saturday, the Rosewood Art Alley opened.  Harlyn, Mom, Teresa and me all went down to see Clay.  He is an amazing artist.  So proud!!

While we were gone Hudson had football practice.  After practice Rick built a fire pit in the back yard.  I love it because fall is perfect for a fire and Smores.  We found these blocks on sale at Lowes for 2 for $1.00.  Hooray for a cheap fire pit!!

That night Rick had friends over to watch the game.  It was getting rowdy in the shop so the kids and I came in and finished up the game on the couch.  Hudson and I stayed up extra late to watch the end.   I love how much he has learned about football since he started playing this year.  He really gets into it!

Sunday we slept in, gave the dogs a bath, had lunch with Ricky and Minerva, took a nap and finished up school projects that were due today.

Big fun in the Jay house!

Braces Aren't Actually Fun!!??

Harlyn has been dying to get braces for about a year now.  Once she lost all of her baby teeth the orthodontist said she was ready.
He talked to her about all that she would have to do to take care of her teeth with the braces on.  She agreed that she could handle the responsibility.

Come to find out braces aren't actually fun!!??

They hurt and make eating very uncomfortable.

18 to 24 months she will wear these things!

Pee Wee Football and my Nerves

After lengthy and heated discussions Hudson was signed up to play Pee Wee football.  I was so nervous for him and his safety.  Hudson was SO excited!  He was over the moon when they picked up his equipment.

Rick is going to be an assistant coach which is good and bad.  After the first practice Hudson was ready to quit.  Why?  He wasn't good.  One thing about Hudson is he wants to be the best at everything.  If he isn't he will practice until he is, research it on YouTube or just quit.  Each day I didn't know if he was going to want to go or be upset.  Rick and I stuck to our guns about having to keep his commitment to the team.  It was so hard for me!  I wanted to hold him in my arms and say "I know it hurts, you don't have to play if you don't want to."

Then one day a few weeks ago he liked it.  He was beginning to get the hang of the plays.  He was starting to understand the concept of football.

When the Patriots had their first real game I was impressed.  Now I am a proud mama, but not usually one to be very vocal about it.  Hudson did AWESOME!  Hudson played almost the entire game both offense and defense.  He was engaged and serious!  He knew the plays and seemed to have his every move planned out.  I was glad to see that he was pretty good at avoiding being tackled.

I am happy to report that the Patriots won the game 38 to 7 against the Colts.

Here's to a great football season!

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog!  We are so happy you are here to share our stories.  The kids suggested we start a blog to document everything going on in our busy lives.  Together we are going to write about the crazy, fun, exciting, sad, stressful, real things that happen in our everyday lives.  Harlyn will focus on her life in middle school and Hudson on sports and fishing.  Rick may pop in every once in a while for a rant.  While I share about our everyday life and probably cover all the craftiness that is going into decorating our new home.  Thanks for stopping by!
